Motivation Theories

Theories on what influences a person's behavior

Instinct theory - the theory that we are driven by our unchanging instincts with which we are born. This means that there are similar incentives for most peoples' motivations.

Drive theory - the theory that our behaviors are motivated by our biological needs, such as hunger and thirst. This suggests our actions are taken in order to meet these needs.

Arousal theory - the theory that actions taken are motivated by the amount of stimulus a person needs. Someone with need for high stimulus may be motivated to do activities that boost their adrenaline.

However motivation works, it is important to comprehend how motivation works on a personal level.
